Matt, we still replace iPod Touch 2nd Gen batteries. The battery replacement on this page is currently $89.99, and that price includes the prepaid shipping label we email you and shipping the iPod back to you. Shipping from 03064 doesn't add anything to that total.

The original batteries in these iPods are well past their lifespan. They usually die within minutes, only work on the charger, or won't power on at all. On the 2nd Gen, the battery is glued in behind the screen, so the display has to come off carefully to reach it. That's the part that makes it tricky to do yourself.

Before you ship it, charge it for an hour if you can and see whether it turns on. That helps us know whether the battery is the only problem. If we find anything else wrong while it's open, we'll quote it before doing more. Turnaround is usually 3 to 5 business days after it arrives, and the repair comes with a 90-day warranty.
