Q: I have 4gen iPod that is formatted on windows but does not connect. I can see the hard drive and music but I’m unable to transfer or add. I just want to save my music and reformat the drive and add the music back to the drive. Drive seems to be ok, screen is ok, ran hd test it passed. Do you replace/fix circuit boards?

Darrell, since the hard drive test passes and the computer can read the music, the drive itself is probably fine. The problem is more likely in how the iPod connects. The usual causes on a 4th Gen iPod Classic are a worn dock connector, a bad cable, or a damaged spot on the logic board around the data lines. Sometimes it's just software, though. A Windows-formatted iPod that mounts but won't sync often responds to a restore in iTunes once you've copied the music off. Here's a cheap test before you ship it: try a different cable, a different USB port, and a different computer if you have one.
