Q: Would I have to pay $500 to get it fixed? Or do I pay $20 for the $500 insurance/coverage in the case that it cost $500 to fix the water damage?

The insurance option is for shipping. We are not sure what you are asking here. The insurance dropdown menu pertains to how much you would like to protect your device for should it get damaged during shipping.
