Q: Hi, I have an iphone X that has water damage. I took it into the ocean to take pictures and it got splashed a few times (not submerged). I thought it would be okay with the IP67 rating and all, but it wasn't ok. The touch screen became erratic, then I got a face ID not working message, then I turned the phone off. Later, after soaking the phone in silica gel packs for 24 hours, I turned the phone on and it does a continuous boot at the apple logo. Hard resets doesn't work, trying to restore with itunes returns an error...so definitely hardware issue. I'm trying to preserve the data (photos) on the phone too. I'm fairly handy and have repaired several iphones before. I opened the phone but could see not evidence of water or water damage. The charging port looked a bit corroded so I replaced the charging assembly with no luck. I might be the battery, but I doubt it. It's probably something in the logic board. Do you have the equipment to crack open a logic board and do repairs at that lvl? Assuming, it's logic board issues, what's the ball park cost to repair? How about costs of data recovery if that's possible. Obviously I'm trying to get a better deal than the apple store $550.
