Q: Greetings, I dropped my iPhone 5s in fresh water. It was on and submerged for approximately 10 seconds. Initially, it looked ok but seconds later the screen displayed erratic movements. I powered it off; used compressed air to blow away any water then turned it back on. It did come back on but the screen looked like some sort of grid. In the back-round, I could see the “normal” screen but nothing worked. I then took it to the mall where the sign said, “We fix water damaged phones”. They had it for a day and gave it back saying it was placed in a dehydrator overnight but still doesn’t work because it needs a new screen and they were out of them. There is a computer store a mile away stating the same claim of being able to repair water damaged phones. I dropped it off there. When I came back, they said the phone is junk because the water indicators have been “tripped”. The phone turns on, the correct day and time is displayed along with the normal introduction screen. As I said, it is in the back-round behind the “grid” on the screen. Advice? Next, I have another iPhone5s. this unit fell into ocean water. It fell from my pocket and I immediately retrieved it. That also powers up, turns on but that screen has some sort of silly vertical lines and obviously, doesn’t work.
